So last month I posted an update on how our first couple of weeks here in Knoxville went. This post follows up on what’s happened since then now that we’ve been here a full two months. The short of it is, a LOT has happened, the long of it is…
To start things off, we give a huge praise to God that we’ve finally closed a deal to sell our house up in Dayton. It was a real relief to get out from under what was becoming a real financial burden. Its such a huge relief to have that behind us now.

Well, Crys, Phoenix and I have officially been residents of Knoxville for just over two weeks now. Overall, we love it here. I’d say we’ve gotten off to a fantastic start. The townhouse we’re living is has us a little bit cramped in general, but we’ve managed to get everything in place and are living pretty comfortable. We really love the place we’re in. Its quiet, there are great views, there’s great places to take Phoenix for a walk, and the location is fantastic. read more »
Well, we’re loadin’ up and headin’ out tomorrow. Unfortunately, that means that *.yexley.net will be down for a while until we can get things wired back up down south. Looks like that could be as much as two weeks from now. Until then, if you’re really chompin’ at the bit to know what’s goin’ on with us, you can probably get a pretty good idea by checking out my photostream and/or my twitter updates.
Most people who’ve known me and/or my wife for a while know that we’ve never really felt “settled” in Ohio. From even before we were married, we both knew we definitely did NOT want to live in Dayton, Ohio for the rest of our lives. For her, it mostly had to do with weather and a general lack of much of anything interesting in Dayton at all (with the major of exception of good people…there will be a lot of people here that we’ll miss dearly). For me, its always been about being closer to family.

Computers are so unreliable. You’d think that with as long as I’ve been working with computers that I would’ve learned my lesson by now and gotten some sort of reliable backup and recovery plan in place at home. Unfortunately, if you did think that, you’d be wrong.
I’ve said for a long time that I was going to get some sort of plan in place. As a matter of fact, I’ve been working on writing my own application for backing up data off and on for quite a while now (I’ve run into a few snags that I’ve not been able to figure out how to get working, which is why its not done yet, but that’s another story for another time). Anyway, the system disk on my server at home crashed last week, which is why Yexley.Net was down for a while.
