Simply because I've been hearing so much talk about him lately, I have some thoughts on Brian Kelly.

I keep hearing so many sports analysis and pundits talking about how surprised they are at how LSU looks as a team this year. My response to that surprise is, a question:

Why? Why are you so surprised.

Brian Kelly is NOT a good coach, and I honestly don't understand how or why anyone would think that he is. If you get paid to talk about sports, I have to presume there's some sort of expectation that you have to know what you're talking about, and in order to know what you're talking about, you have to watch the game and do some research.

Just look at his record in the past at his last three jobs. When you look closely at it, how can you come to the logical conclusion that he's a great coach? Maybe I can consent to suggesting that he's at best a slightly-above-average coach, but he's definitely not a great coach. His record speaks for itself.

Nearly everywhere he's been, the conversation has consistent themes in it. Let's look at some words and phrases that continue to pop up in conversations around the teams that he has coached.

Under-performing. Overrated. Undisciplined.
