Faith Promise - 5/24 / The Big Ten

  • How great thou art … indeed

  • Today we’re talking about the second and seventh commandments:

    • Exodus 20:4
    • Exodus 20:14

  • “Whose are you?” (???)

  • Exodus 20:1-21 - the full Ten Commandments.

  • Focusing today specifically on Exodus 20:3-6.

  • “… for I the Lord your God am a jealous God”

  • Unfaithfulness always starts with an idol … that we feed.

  • An idol is anything that becomes more important to you than God.

  • Hosea 1:2-3 - the Redeeming Love story

  • Hosea 2:14-20 - our God is compassionate and merciful.

  • Hosea 3:1-5 - our God will redeem us.

  • Matthew 5:27-30 - the condition of our heart matters.

  • If you only ever manage your behavior and don’t change your heart, you’re already losing.

  • It all starts and ends with the condition of our heart. That’s where real change happens.

  • Real healing starts with genuine repentance.

  • Psalm 51:1-19, specifically, Psalm 51:10
