Church Notes - 9/13 @ Faith Promise

Conspiracy of the Cross

  • Jack Barski (sp?) - KGB spy that infiltrated America in the 70s.
  • 1 Peter 1:13 - 1 Peter 2:12
  • God set you apart to put him on display
  • Leviticus 11:44 - “consecrate yourselves”
  • “Holy” - to be set apart for God and His purposes
  • 1 Peter 1:18-19 - ransom - we were bought back out of captivity. It was the payment five to set us free.
  • The Passover - the blood on the doors
  • We should be living like this - our lives should look from the outside, to clearly reflect this reality, that we have been set free, and now we live for Him.
  • 1 Peter 1:23
  • 1 Peter 2:4-5
  • 1 Peter 2:9-10 - this is our identity, and our purpose. This is who we were called to be, who we need to be.
  • 1 Peter 2:11-12 - and as a result of the above, this is how we need to be. We’ve been saved, set free … and it wasn’t free or without cost … and we need to remember that, and show how grateful we are by the way that we live. This is how we say, “thank you Lord.”
  • Our faith, our salvation, through confession of faith in Jesus as savior and Lord of our lives, has set us apart. But that reality doesn’t automatically just magically change how we live. We still have to make active choices, new every day, to live our lives in a way that shows the world around us the reality of this truth. This is what the Christian life looks like. We still have to deny ourselves, and live for Him.
