As Pastor Zach talks about things that are posted online about content in the Bible that is not always accurate, I’m reminded of a thought that I’ve had to share and remind people of several times in the past, and it is this. The Holy Scriptures should always … ALWAYS be read, understood and taken in context. There are dozens, maybe hundreds or thousands, of passages in scripture that can be abused and cast a negative, dark, even blasphemous light on God and our belief system.

Consider this truth: the Bible, like any other written word, can and is intended to help us learn, even sometimes by giving us examples of what NOT to do, or an example of the consequences of bad behavior. Just because the Bible tells a story, does NOT always mean that what can be taken from that story is something that is condoned or supported or encouraged by our God. King David committing adultery and murder does NOT mean God was OK with it. King Solomon having a harem of concubines does NOT mean that God encouraged that kind of lifestyle.

Don’t be foolish people, and don’t dare think of mocking our Holy God. It will not end well for you.
