- Just, thinking out loud. I hate feeling so negative, but I feel like there’s so much emphasis in modern church services to be trendy or edgy, trying to be so dramatic to grab people’s attention. The Bible is more than sufficient. It’s so good. Just, teach the Bible. Let it stand on its own. It’s so good … absolutely good enough.
- 1 Peter 4:12-13
- “Glory” … used four times in these passages
- Don’t be surprised by the fire
- We’re all gonna go through stuff. Life isn’t always gonna be unicorns and rainbows. Especially for us believers. We will experience uncomfortable things. Honestly, if we don’t, we’re probably not doing it right.
- John the Baptist, the perfect example of this.
- Hebrews 12:3
- God will never abandon us in the middle of our pain.
- 1 Peter 5:1-7
- Don’t walk through the fire alone
- 1 Peter 5:10-11
- Don’t forget what comes after the fire
- we will share in his glory, eternally
- Gracious, we have so much to look forward to, so much hope.
- We need to remember this, remind ourselves of it, embrace it.
- Our citizenship is in heaven. We are in this world, but not of it. We need to live our lives in light of this truth.
