Climbin’ hills
I’ve needed to get my ass in shape for a long time. As my kids have gotten older, it has felt like life has gotten busier and busier, and time feels like something I’ve had less and less of. Combine that with the fact that I sit in a chair and drive a desk for a living, and things have gotten soft fast over the last five years or so. So it’s past time I started doing something about it.
I’ve tried various things over time, all with varying levels of results and satisfaction, but recently I feel like I’ve found something that feels like it’s working. We’ll see.
This hill, not far from our house (just a couple of miles), I am guessing is maybe a quarter of a mile to the top. Maybe not even quite that. That’s false summit you can see at the “top” there. It goes maybe half again as far past what you can see there to a gate at the very top. A few days ago, I started walking in. 5 “laps”, each of which is walking up to the gate at the top and back down. Done it three times now. First day sucked. Second day did too. This evening wasn’t quite as bad. Hoping it just keeps getting better.
I think the key to it really being helpful is, as with anything else, consistency. So … wish me luck, and feel free to keep me accountable.
The views are decent when you move up in elevation a bit too.
